The 17th Annual ACC Meeting of the Minds Undergraduate Research Conference will be held March 23-25, 2023 at Virginia Tech. This is a great opportunity for undergraduate students of universities of the ACC conference to present their work in a professional setting and share their work with peers. Research can be presented as posters or oral presentations.

If you are an undergraduate student currently enrolled in classes on the Georgia Tech Atlanta campus, you are eligible to apply to represent Georgia Tech at the ACC Meeting of the Minds Conference. Georgia Tech will be sending five (5) outstanding undergraduate researchers as delegates to present at this conference along with a faculty representative. The guidelines below are that of the ACC Academic Collaborative:

  • The research is original, student-directed, and under the advisement of a faculty member.
  • Abstracts of each research project are gathered in a conference brochure.
  • Verbal presentations are grouped by broad subject matter categories and involve 15 minutes of presentation followed by five minutes of discussion.
  • Students presenting their research by poster typically “staff” their presentation and explain their research to other participants, both students and faculty.
  • Plenary sessions involve both reflections on the importance of undergraduate research, highlights of research methodologies by distinguished faculty from the host university, and reflections on paths to graduate school and research careers.

The Atlantic Coast Conference includes Boston College, Clemson University, Duke University, Florida State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, North Carolina State University, Syracuse University, University of Louisville, University of Miami, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Notre Dame, University of Pittsburgh, University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and Wake Forest University.

Before beginning the application, make sure you have the following:

  1. An abstract (required, 250 words max.)
  2. Application
  3. Faculty mentor information including their email, mentor college, and mentor department/school.

The ACC Academic Consortium covers the costs of the conference including airfare, meals, and lodging.
